Study Help and Tutoring

Peer-Assisted Learning Sessions (PALS)

Students who have done well in their courses and completed our training program are standing by to help other students through the tough patches in RDC's most challenging courses.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this service is now offered virtually.

For the remainder of the Winter term (until April 9), Peer-Assisted Learning Sessions (PALS) will be offered through Blackboard Collaborate. To participate, students must pre-register by emailing Amy Becker at; include your full name and your RDC username. You will then receive an email confirmation (to your RDC email) with instructions about how to access Blackboard Collaborate for the tutoring session.

PALS Expectations

Tutors will be expected to

• Arrive on time.

• Be prepared to help students to the best of their ability.

• Assist in understanding concepts required for the course.

• Not work on assignments to be submitted for marks.

• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism.

• Abide by RDC’s Student Academic Integrity and Academic Misconduct policy.

Tutees will be expected to

• Arrive on time.

• Come prepared to each tutoring session by bringing course materials and questions. Tutors are there to support your learning but will not have a lesson prepared.

• Attend class—small group study sessions are not a substitute; they are a supplement.

• Participate as an active group member in each study session.

• Abide by RDC’s Student Academic Integrity and Academic Misconduct policy.

Help for Other Courses

Students who need help in courses other than the ones with Peer-Assisted Learning Sessions are encouraged to:

  • Speak with your instructor. The instructor often has access to helpful resources!
  • Form a study group with classmates. Learn more.
  • Check online for instructional videos.
  • Find a private tutor. (Tutors listed here are not endorsed by RDC. It is your responsibility to find a private tutor that works for you.)
