Welcome to Learning Skills and Strategies

Academic Support is available to help all Red Deer College students be more effective and efficient learners. Don’t rely on high school study skills; use Academic Support and its resources to get you on the right path towards academic success at RDC!

Learning strategies are ways to help yourself understand, remember and apply the knowledge you are receiving in your courses. Small group instruction and individual appointments are available on a wide variety of topics, including:

  • Study strategies (learn effective ways to study and improve concentration)

  • Time management (create and follow a schedule, plan for studying and assignments)

  • Note taking and reading skills (take useful notes and read textbooks effectively)

  • Exam preparation (learn how to plan and prepare for your exams and help reduce anxiety)
