Learning Skills and Strategies

If you need study skills help, please check out what RDC offers!

Book an Appointment

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this service is now offered virtually.

Learning Skills appointments will be offered by videoconference or virtual chat (using Microsoft Teams), or by phone.

Select an appointment using the “Book an Appointment” button below.  45-minute appointments are available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. When booking, specify phone, videoconference or virtual chat appointment.

For videoconference or virtual chat appointments, students will receive a link to join the virtual Teams meeting at the pre-arranged time. Don’t have Microsoft Teams? That’s OK! You can use Teams on the web OR via the Teams app (you'll be prompted to download it when you click on the link).

You will receive a confirmation email once you have booked your appointment. To cancel, use the link in the confirmation email, or email the Learning Skills Strategist at

A learning skills appointment at RDC is a one-to-one or small group (up to 3 students) session with our Learning Skills Strategist. Referrals are not required and the service is free.

What to Expect:

  • The Learning Skills Strategist provides professional learning strategy assistance and guidance, but will not do the work for the student (e.g. the Learning Skills Strategist will not work on assignments or review test material).
  • Appointments are scheduled for 45 minutes at RDC Library.
  • Please be respectful and show up for your appointment on time. Failure to show up to your appointment within 15 minutes of the appointment time will require you to reschedule. The time slot will then be made available to another student.

  • Contact the Learning Skills Strategist as soon as possible if you are unable to attend an appointment.
  • Please cancel at least two hours in advance by following the instructions in your appointment confirmation email, or by contacting the Learning Skills strategist by email at, or phone 403.342.3136. This will allow the appointment time to become available for another student.
  • Failure to attend a scheduled appointment without proper notice will be recorded as a "no show".  After two "no shows," it will be at the discretion of the Learning Skills Strategist to allow further appointments for the remainder of the semester.
