Your instructor may use Blackboard Collaborate, a virtual classroom, to teach all or part of your class. Blackboard Collaborate is a real-time video conferencing tool with interactive features. Your instructor may use some or all of these features, such as two-way audio, video, an interactive whiteboard, application and desktop sharing, breakout rooms, and chat.
When you login to your Blackboard course, and see a purple icon, you will know that your instructor has set-up a Blackboard Collaborate session:
Use Blackboard Collaborate within an RDC Virtual Desktop (VDI)
If you are accessing Collaborate using virtual desktop (VDI), then you will not be required to install any plugins or run the launcher. If you run the launcher, then you will need to log out and then log back in to your VDI session to correct the problem.
To get started, follow the steps provided:
Basic Steps to Starting Blackboard Collaborate within an RDC Virtual Desktop (PDF)
Use Blackboard Collaborate Directly NOT using VDI
If you are planning on using Blackboard Collaborate on your own computer (but not through virtual desktop), then you will need to ensure that you have the required set-up, including plug-ins, to join the virtual classroom.
To get started, and to ensure your computer is ready, follow the steps provided:
