The RDC Makerspace is a place to learn through exploration, innovation, and creation.

Sewing Machine

Janome Juno-G1212 Sewing Machine 

The first time you use the Janome sewing machine you will be required to complete a mandatory orientation and sign a Makerspace User Agreement

The sewing machine can be used in the Makerspace for up to three hours. Arrangements can be made to extend the time if not required by another maker. Each time you wish to use the sewing machine, please check in with the Makerspace Technician so they can confirm you have completed the training.

Button Maker

Express yourself with a personalized button pin! Our button maker kit includes a button making machine, a circle punch, and a book to inspire your designs.

RDC students, faculty, and staff

The Button Maker can be borrowed by RDC students, faculty, and staff for 3 days, and can be booked in advance

Community members

The Button Maker can be borrowed by the public for up to 3 hours, but must be used in the Makerspace. Community members cannot book the button maker in advance.

Button Maker Supplies

Use of the RDC Makerspace and all equipment except the laser machine are free. There is a cost for consumables associated with some pieces of equipment. Payment may be made at the Library Desk on the main floor.

1.5" pinback buttons per button $0.10
1.5" keychain and parts per keychain $3.00
1.5" magnet per magnet $1.00


Cricut Explore Air 

The Cricut Explore Air is a die-cutting machine which can be used for a variety of projects from scrapbooking to card-making. 

The Cricut can be used by RDC students, faculty and staff and community members for 3 hours within the Makerspace.  It is available on a first come, first-served basis. 

Materials which can be cut with the machine include: 

  • paper 
  • fabric 
  • vinyl 
  • foil
