Whoever would do good in the world, ought not to deal in censure. We ought not to destroy, but rather construct.
- Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

In celebration of Freedom to Read Week, RDC Library has compiled collections of challenged books available in the Library Catalogue.

  • Children's Literature
Explore children's books that have been frequently challenged in schools and public libraries for indecent or questionable content.
  • Young Adult Fiction
Fictional books written for teenagers and older children are commonly challenged for dealing with coming of age issues like drugs, sex, identity and violence.
  • Adult Fiction
While many of these titles are considered modern classics, they have caused controversy, complaints and, in some cases, public bans and book burning.
  • Non-Fiction
Numerous non-fiction titles have come under fire for their portrayals and treatment of issues, events and ideas.
