Distance Learning encompasses courses offered through non-traditional means. DL includes online learning, blended learning environments and courses offered at off-campus locations.

Learning can take place synchronously - with students and teachers interacting in real time from their various locations through an online virtual classroom - or asynchronously, with students and teachers communicating at different times using online message boards, forums, and email.
